I told a group of women; some friends, some strangers; that I wished I felt more attractive.

Two months ago, I was in a slump. I was stressed to the max, my skin was breaking out, my hair was constantly limp and greasy, and I was re-wearing the same outfit (sweats) day after day.
I was avoiding the mirror because I didn't want to see the reflection looking back at me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I admitted to this group of women how I felt, and honestly, I had no idea of the words coming out of my mouth until they did. I didn't even realize how I felt until the tears started. I just wanted to feel attractive again.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
After that confession, I booked an eyebrow wax and a facial. And then, I went to @elegantstepstruro and bought some @merlenormantruro makeup. I started taking my collagen again regularly, and I began putting more effort into my morning routine, which now includes blow-drying my hair, using a dry brush on my body, using a Gua Sha on my face, etc.

This photo of me - taken this weekend while moving - is me without makeup on, my hair is in two buns under a ballcap, and I'm wearing sweats.
But I feel different. ✨

There is something to be said about the power of taking care of yourself. Of putting in effort for Y.O.U.
It can seem silly to think a brow wax, or a new supplement, can change how you feel about yourself, but it can.

It's not about the desire to fit into society's idea of "beauty," it's about knowing that you are worthy of taking care of yourself and that you can smile when you come across your reflection.

I was recently on a @wsntruro Zoom call, and one woman, a musician whom I had never met, was telling us about her upcoming projects and all the inspiration she's been feeling, and ideas she's been having. What struck me differently about her though, was that I could literally feel her enthusiasm and inspiration; like, I felt it in my chest as though there was a swirling ball of energy being transferred from her to me - I kid you not! 🔮
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It made me realize that while we were originally used to having energy exchanges with people in person (as in, you run into someone and immediately feel like you're in a good mood, or you have a chat with someone at work and then you're grumpy... energy exchange), we're not as used to having them virtually... but we could be. ✨
This woman brought so much life to our Zoom call, from my perspective, so I wonder, could we commit to doing the same?
- Could we show up on IG stories, in Zoom calls, and through FB posts (etc) with energy, enthusiasm, positivity, and excitement?
- Could we talk about the things that are inspiring us versus the things that are discouraging us?
- Could we share our wins and excitement without shamefully dimming our lights or brushing them off, and then comment and share when others are sharing their wins and excitement too?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It may seem small or silly, but I bet it could make a big impact on ourselves, our friends/followers, and how we view the virtual world we're all living in. I mean, if we're going to live in a virtual space, why not make it awesome?!

I don't want to jinx anything, but my girl is getting stronger!! 💪
I was nervous recently when she started being resistant to lunging again. I immediately worst-case-scenario'd it, thinking "oh no, she's sore again," but I think she was just getting bored. I've switched things up from lunging-only to now mixing in riding, in-hand work, poles, hacking, pre-and-post ride stretches, etc. and she's moving forward like a little steam-engine!! 🚂🎉

I did something really scary on Friday. I declined work.

Life has been a whirlwind for me lately; between selling our house, getting ready to move into my parent's home temporarily, and scrambling to get things booked and organized so we can finish with our new house... I have been starting to feel the stress of too many projects, and I knew something had to give.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But you know what's funny? I declined work that felt heavy to me, and within 24-hours, new doors opened that are fun, light, and easy. Projects that I wouldn't have had the bandwidth for had I taken on the "heavy" projects.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We can't do it all, and that's okay. Get clear on your "no" so the Universe can make room for your "yes."

I've learned a lot about friendship in the past 12 months.
Like how friendship is so much more than sharing inside jokes and "getting together for drinks."
This girl gang has been friends for over two decades now, and that's not by coincidence. It comes with tears, hard conversations, making long-distance work, a ton of laughter and shared memories, and knowing that you're willing to put in the work to keep these friendships alive.

In just 12 months, during a pandemic, our little foursome has experienced the tragic and untimely death of two fathers, a first-time birth, job transitions, moving to new provinces, buying and selling homes, and more.
We've celebrated, and we've cried. And no matter what, we've done our best to be there for each other while also learning what “being there for each other” means for each individual and each situation.

The past 12 months have been hard on my beloved girl gang, but we'll get through it, together.
I love each one of you to the ends of the earth. Always have, always will.
